Does anyone know what this is called? it is leaking coolant and don't know what to ask for to fix it. I've gone to the "stealership" and the guys looked at the photo and i got this look
, went to about 5 or 6 other places and got the same look
. i took the "skrew" out and there was shredded flat rubber ring just under the head. i didnt have a flat ring so i tried an o-ring and some teflon tape on the threads but it still leaks. i also checked to see if it was cracked and i didnt see anything i need to fix it because as long as my truck is turned on its losing coolant. oh yeah, i forgot to mention that this all started after i replaced the transmission cooler lines. i don't know if that has anything to do with that or not.

I'm not familiar with it. Maybe you can buy some gasket material and make one for it? Or I'd think if you got it clean and dry and put it together with RTV (silicone), that might be OK.
I can't tell. Does a whole, solid plug un-screw, or is there a screw going through the center?
Fabbing a gasket like the original might be your best bet. Maybe cork gasket material?

same idea as just sealing it but a different method.
home depot or lowes (any hardware store w/ a plumbing section) get liquid PVC. it comes in a small container and has a ball sponge applicator. dont smell it or your man hood will run away screaming. it will fuse plastic back together, but it wont melt it so calm down.
i used it for fixing the mounting plate on my inner door handle/arm rest on my jeep.
it never came apart from me getting in or out or shutting the door. i had the jeep for about 2 years after that.

Yea, if it's cracked you are screwed. In the pic it does look like it's leaking from above. In any case, I see now. ACE hardware and a zillion bins, one probably has little neoprene washers that would fit on that screw. (or a faucet washer?) Good luck!
OH, Btw, you only put Teflon tape on threads that seal, usually tapered pipe thread.

Kingfisher- yes it is, since 12/25/2005
DFlint- yes it is a solid plug, and i just figured that the tape might help but wasn't sure
i found something that looks similar to what im looking at from the driveway. description says it is a drain plug for a nissan radiator.
