Ok that I somewhat agree with. Cost effective, yes. The only spring clamps I have dealt with that failed, are ones that have been over extended. After that happens, they are complete junk. Same goes with a worm drive though. Once tightened too much, the clamp strips and you cant get it tight enough. I guess you can say if each style clamp is properly used, they work fine. I just prefer one over the other.

I prefer spring clamps as well because they are constant tension, regardless of expansion and contraction. They don't loosen due to heat cycling. I don't recall ever having to replace one, but I've replaced many a worm clamp.
