so i installed my SYE today and installed it while it was in 4X4 Hi and everything went relatively smooth, but now i got it all back together, feels real smooth and now i don't have 2 wheel drive. everything else works like it is supposed to 4hi N 4lo all work like normal, but when in 2 hi it will not be in 2 wheel drive even though the shifter will **** it there. it stays in 4x4...an6y ideas, i really don't want to take the case back apart but it looks like i am gonna have too. i haven't driven it yet cause i have duel lockers and that would not go over well on the street one bit.

yea it is parked in my garage with no drive shafts connected to it. are you saying that i should throw the shafts on there and drive it around the parking lot and it will disengage?

usually u have to drive it a little bit for it to disengage, it wont disengage sitting still.

I would try it with out the drive shafts. Just put it in gear and gently turn the transmission while trying to get it into 2Hi, the transfer case shouldn't care if it has axles attached.

well i popped the rear driveshaft on and it instantly went in to 2 wheel drive, guess it just needed a little stress on the new gears, now i can do it standing still in the garage, guess it just needed some lube!!!! my SYE kit works great, and i am so glad i change my chain and got a brand new one. it was so stretched out it was dragging on the bottom on the transfercase!
