You really should replace that line, and any others that look as pitted and rusty as that one. Vise grips and heat should do the trick.

Simplest is to remove the line entirely and match it up at NAPA or similar.
Agreed on vice grips and heat. Maybe soak a little PB blaster in there.

Heat it but be careful. Heat it too much and that rubber line will explode and shoot fire like a flamethrower. Ask me know I know.

File down two flat spots on it and get vise grips on there as tight as humanly possible. If that doesn't work than heat will most likely work.

That picture looks like most brake lines I have to deal with !
You may as well replace that hose while you are into fixing the line...

Little update for you guys. I got it off! Vise grips pb blaster. Anywhere you guys have bought that line at? Or am I going to have to buy a roll of it and configure it myself?

Nice work!

I buy them premade at NAPA, I'm sure other parts places have them as well. I hate flaring them myself.
Bring yours in and match it up. If the replacement is too long, just coil it up out of the way.

It's not at all easy to splice. Just go back to the last threaded connection, and follow Radi's advice.

Renting and learning how to use the double flaring tool is something I haven't done yet, and I sure as heck wouldn't start by trying it on old line. To re-do a bunch with new line, sure, I'd learn, but here in CA rotted lines are pretty rare.

The dealership will have prebent oem lines.

I just finished replacing all of my brake lines. O'Reillys can order the pre-bent lines. But I needed them right away. So I got the straight pre-flaired line and bent them myself. After fighting to get the old ones off it took about an hour to bend and install all of the new ones.

if you get new line and flare em yourself, make sure you put on the fitting before flaring. i did that twice when i had to redo all my hard lines

Forgetting to put the fittings on first is part of the learning curve !
Around here, rusty brake ( and fuel) lines are very common, so we get lots of practice !

Yeah...and I still do it 40 years later.

I had a cheap flaring tool from O'Reilley, on the first use the 3/8" pin broke. Paid $75 for a Blue Point which works fine, but you can buy a lot of pre-cut lines for that.
