Hey there guys, 2001 Cherokee sport 4.0L I6.
So today i was at the woodstock junk yard, and driving home to crystal lake. As im driving, my check engine light comes on. Jeep was still running fine, so i wasnt too worried. but then i get the check gauges, (and it wasnt my oil pressure this time...) it was my battery indicator. it dropped all the way to 9, pretty fast i think. and it stuck there. that got me worried. then a bit down the road i noticed my int. lights were going dim, and then my radio completely shut off. i shut off all electrics in the jeep. i also realized my brakes were very ****ty today, which pretty much scared the **** outa me. Then strangely when i was almost home, my clock came back on, the radio might have as well, not sure though. and even weirder, when i came to a light and used my brakes, as soon as i touched them, my radio went out again. i got home, and when i parked in my garage, i tried to start her and she was dead as a door nail. just clicks.
Is she just dead? she has died before and i had interstate batteries check her battery life and it was 88%. The battery dosent have a date stamp on it, and its gross, so i may get a new battery. think this will fix her?? Ill keep you updated.

sure sounds like a dead battery to me. When she is running test the alt. output with a multimeter across the battery terminals, it should read ~14.

Tried to start her, ON- everything is normal. Battery level is half way between 9 and 14. Hangs there for a bit, then drops fast to 9 and check gauges light comes on. Tries to turn over, but won't and clicks.

re. your bad brakes (today) please check your fluid level @ the master cylinder. Any brake fluid leaks visible at the master cyl. / booster, under the jeep at the wheels or brake lines? I don't want you crashing from failed brakes!

The master cylinder reservoir is not pressurised, only the fluid in the brake cylinder and down stream becomes pressurised when you step on the brake pedal. Brown color = old fluid and probably contaminated with water. You should think about flushing your brake fluid and having your brakes looked at. Many brake shops will do a free brake inspection.
