My Jeep died on a road trip. Cranking but wont start. Towed it home. It had fuel and spark. I replaced coil, pick up coil and finally crankshaft position sensor when it started. Right then, it started missing randomly, no rule whatsoever. I could drive 15 miles without a miss and sometimes i could hardly make few miles without missing heavily. Check engine lit up - random misfire, misfire on all six cylinders. I replaced ignition wires, spark plugs, distributor cap, it appeared better at first, but still would end up misfiring badly. New two check engine codes showed up - manifold absolute pressure/barometric pressure circuit high input and throttle/pedal position sensor/switch a circuit high input. I replaced map sensor, idle control valve and throttle position sensor on the throttle body. Car finally runs nice and smooth. But get this - i am driving down the highway and press the windshield washer water pump -> my engine starts missing! Released the windshield button and it runs fine. On a steep hill another three check engine codes showed up, random misfire and misfire on 2nd and 4th cylinder, but i didnt feel a miss. Just deleted codes. I tried windshield washer again some time later, same thing happened. Its missing only when the water is spraying on my windshield, otherwise runs fine.
