Strange Knocking Sound
I have a stock 1999 Jeep Cherokee 4 door. I have a knocking noise coming from the Front left wheel (or so I think, I can feel the knocks under my feet). It's only when rolling, & picks up tempo the faster the car moves but only when creeping. After a couple seconds and as the jeep moves faster, it goes away. When it goes away, it doesn't come back all day (no matter how many stops I make), but it will come back the next day when it has sat still all night. It doesn't make the sound when I back up, only when I creep forward. I live 3 houses down from the stop sign, and it goes away by the time I get there without accelerating much. I do not use the parking brake when it's parked, and the knocks aren't present when turning. The knocks are very slow but loud (only hear about 10 by the time I get to the stop sign). This all started after a trip to the mechanic for an oil change that resulted in them telling me that the hub assembly on that wheel needs to be replaced. Please help! Could it be the hub assembly that's causing this?
