damn, everyone is crazy about running a cat......

i used to live in washington state and they didnt even have smog check in my area, i got my car registered and got my stickers and new plate when i lived there, so if i ran no cat there is it such a big deal because theres no smog in that area?

but this was 2 years ago when i had a honda, and i could drive around open header and the cops didnt care...

i live in cali and my jeep has a cat, and will stay like that because its not a lowered honda and a cop can easily look under it and see that the cat is there

no, no and no.

back-pressure is not benificial to naturally aspirated engines. the word you are looking for is scavanging, which does help with low end power.

but if the actual cat is still there (gutted or not) there is still plenty of pipe to have efficient scavaging.

not having a cat or muffler is not going to warp your exhaust manifold.

State and Federal laws differ. Just because you don't have emissions tests doesn't mean its not required. Federal law trumps State law, so you are still required by federal law to have a CAT on any vehicle mid 80s and newer.

First we do not talk about running catless on THIS forum.

2nd people running catless on a "Just a trail rig" Just gives the environmentalist MORE AMMO against the honest people that are trying to keep trails open!

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/cat...er-laws-24337/

Anymore talk of intentionally running with out catalytic converters will result in "Time out Time"

Thank you

So what about NASCAR or lawn mowers they don't have them. And 2 cycle motors cause more environmental problems then cars on the road? Or dose that not count. What about the fact that people spill more gas in America mowing there lawns then in the second to last big oil spill. That must not count since there not on CF.

Spilling gas on your lawn isn't against the law. if you don't like the rules then leave the forum, your not going to beat the mods.

Its not that I wish to beat them. Just want to let them know its B. S. And that's all. On a form like this not everyone is going to agree on everything. And some rules and regulations on any form aren't going to be accurate or appropriate. I would hope by now they get the idea on what I think.

I think what people are pointing out is they dont really care what you think. lol.

Personally I think every vehicle should have a Cat and ATLEAST a cherry bomb muffler. Straight pipes just makes us look like hill billys that dont care about people around us.

We fight that stereotype daily, I had to sell my XJ because my clients thought I was a damn hill billy. Biggest mistake i ever made.

i found a happy medium when i used to have a 99 Ranger 4.0. the dynomax VT muffler is amazing. perfect amount of pressure and man, what a tone. it has a spring loaded trap door thats designed to not only regulate pressure at idle, butis completely eliminates the awful drone of straight pipes. i loved it
