Stopping when AC is turn on.
Just recently, My 97 jeep Cherokee 4 liter. stopped on me when I had the Ac on. After I step on the gas it will all of sudden shut down.
What is the cause of this?
I have just changed the sparkplugs and wireset 2 days ago. It has been running okay on Fri and over the weekend. On Mon, I haven't turn it all day. and when I just went to the store it to put gas. on the way home it just stop as I was driving home. I had the ac on and when I release my foot from the gas. It shut off. When I turn it on again without ac. it continue as normal.

You're making my brain hurt. Try and rewrite your question and symptoms so we can understand what's going on a little better.

I'm a little confused on what exactly what is going on. Are you saying it only shuts off when the ac is on? Does the ac work and is it working correctly? Make sure that the clutch to the ac isn't starting to seize and hard to spin. If it is it could be causing to much of a drag putting to much of a load on the engine causing it to shut off.

If it is going out it could trash the belt & leave you stranded. Turn the XJ off & try to spin the clutch by hand.
