there was 1 time it got really warm on the trails in moab. but It scared me so bad that I made sure to fix it and put my aux fan on a switch to control that a little better. But then I drove it for another year until I noticed coolant leaking. It was winter, so I wonder if there was a deep freeze or something? Not sure.

Well...the Jeep Gods have smiled on me today. I coerced convinced a buddy to let me use his garage to do an engine swap. So as we speak there is an engine from a wrecked 2000 XJ w/ 107K miles on the way to his house.

I think this about ends the Stop Leak thread, thanks to all who offered advice.

Cool. However, I don't look forward to the cracked 0331 head post that will come next.

Yeah, me neither. Seriously considering just swapping out the head as a preventive measure while the motor is out.

Excellent idea. I've done the same on a few different Jeeps. Should be even easier with the engine out of the vehicle.
