I have a 97 xj that grabs hard on the left rear brake every time i go to stop...is that the proportioning valve or self adjuster...she also pulls to the right..new steering and suspension components and the shop said they set it to spec...is there any way i can check it and manually adjust

Check the backing plate for grooves and also check the return springs they can be weak , the brake lines can be pinched or the wheel cylinders can be bad .

The soft part of the hose is also suspect. They can fail internally and act like a one-way valve.

Leaky axle seals get grease on the other wheel. Or maybe the parking brake cable is rusted stuck on. I was taught that adjustment cannot cause pull, but idk, but that's what they taught us at Bill King's Brake-O in Dallas.
