Default Stock XJ, what OEM wheels fit? Any OEM...

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this thread, but it's for an XJ with no lift, no drop, and I'm looking for sportier wheels, but with a mostly stock replacement look. 17" or 18", but if anyone knows of smaller or bigger ones, that might help others with the same question. Mine is going to be for street use only, so nothing more strenuous than the 45mph drive to work or the occasional highway.

I know the Charger wheels pictured fit, but what else does? For example, if those are from a 2006-2010 Charger/Magnum, what about a newer one? I like some of the wheels from 2011-2014 chargers too. Or will the SRT8 wheels from a 2006-2010 fit? Also, I've heard that Ford Mustang wheels fit, but I've never heard anyone explain what year mustang, or what trim level / size...

I basically want a set of takeoff wheels, mostly just to save a little money. Anyone that knows anything, please chime in.

And is there some kind of online resource that can help me figure out fitment stuff? I've googled around, but all the places seem to either assume I already know more than I do, or isn't made to narrow down specifically for my 2000 XJ. If there's a site that people here have used, I'm open to recommendations.

I bought some not that long ago that were of a Wrangler. The hub is the diameter that was harder to math up on mine (87). But it sounds like you're thinking more along the lines of a 'car' wheel maybe??

Nice looking Jeep BTW..

Lol, yeah it is, but it isn't mine. I just posted it for the wheel picture. I don't mind wrangler, truck, or crossover wheels. I was going for something sporty though.

Your going to have to change bolt patterns as very few after the ZJ class share the same bolt pattern.

Either way 17s or 18s on a XJ will look silly. Find some nice 16s

I agree. Wrangler MOAB wheels work for me. They never came on XJ's but they look right … IMO.

There are a lot of vehicles that share our 5x4.5 bolt pattern (also known as 5x114.3) the biggest problem with most is bore diameter. There are a couple of ways to get around the bore diameter though. I'm not suggesting or promoting these ideas, but if the bore is too small you can increase the bore with a router (or have a machine shop or wheel shop increase the bore) or you can use spacers which are not hub centric. If the bore is too large, most people just run them, but if you want you can get hub centering rings. Another option which many people choose is factory JK (wrangler) wheels which can be easily found in 17s and I believe 18s even, but it requires a wheel adapter. Since the bolt pattern is 5x5.

Do a search for "Vehicle Bolt Pattern Guide" or something along those lines. You should be able to come up with measurements of the Cherokee and other vehicles. Years ago I had found a cheap set of aluminum wheels off a Lincoln that looked nice and had brand new rubber, ...for cheap! But the bore was different. What it comes down to, as I recall, there aren't very many which will fit. But many Wrangler wheels do. You really want to bore to be 'right on'. That's what centers the wheels. But I agree with you, if you can find a set of 'take-off's' with decent rubber, it's a nice way to get a cheap set o wheels/tires. Here's the Jeep guide:

Okay, so if I read it correctly, something with too small a center bore won't physically be able to mount, and something with too big a center bore won't define the location enough?

Correct, but if you find wheels that you like that have too small of a bore you can have them machined to fit, or run non hubcentric spacers (not a great option, but doable). With a large bore wheel all you need to do is get hub centering rings. They're basically plastic or metal rings that have the right outside diameter for the wheel and the correct inside diameter for the hub and Center the wheel for you.

5 lug Mustang wheels are 5x4.5 bolt pattern, you can find plenty of them, Ford Rangers are also the same bolt pattern.

If it uses the conical seat style lug nuts there is no need for hub centering rings, the lugs will do the centering for you. Just about all aftermarket wheels are lug centric.
