Unhappy stock tow package?

So me and my gf are out at my moms diging this stump out of the ground. we dig so far that i can wiggle stump with my hands so i go, ``lets giver her a tug with my jeep``. Bam bends the bumper and the cross bar that holds my hitch! had to beat the shi* out of the bumper to get the liftgate open. WTF? shouldnt i be able to tug on that a little bit?

You exceeded the tow rating of your hitch/bumper with the static (nonmoving) pull on the stump.

Probably should have burned the stump out. You have found out how well all those little root hairs hang on.

I yanked a living cedar tree out of the ground one time with my CJ-7 and a ******-Um-Strap.

dont feel bad man i got yanked out of a hole with my factory hitch like from the factory and it was all rusted out and it bent lucky it was just the hitch tho, i got a 93 so im sure it was just age that did it to both of ours.

i pulled a stump with my wifes liberty it took about 9 tugs and broke a 15k strap but the hitch held like a champ but its an 03 so rust hasnt taken over it just yet

Stumps are tough. I once couldn't yank a little 4" walnut tree out with my big bad power wagon. Finally gave up on it.

I was trying to pull old bushes out of my yard once with my Dodge V10 crew cab monster and a logging chain. The bushes all won. Had to borrow the bobcat and dig em out.

How do you burn a stump out? Never heard of that before and if it works I always like to have more knowledge.

What I want to know is how did you bend the bumper? Is the hitch bolted to the bumper? If it is then I don't think that is a factory tow package. More like a Wally World special. The factory hitches mounted to the nut strips inside the frame rails.

dig down around it below the ground level... fill with fuel... let it sit alittle so the stump soaks it up... dump alittle more and then light a match... itll burn up into ash pretty much... you may have to hit it around with a shovel but then you just cover the hole!
