Stock swing out tire carrier
Hey guys, I found a stock swing out tire carrier off an 88 XJ, V6, Command-Trac at a local junkyard. What I'm wondering is, if I go and get it will I be able to mount it to my 91 XJ and will it be able to hold the weight of a 33" tire?
Any input helps and is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm gonna grab it for sure, if it doesn't work out the way I want it to, then I'll sell it on here or something haha

i found a bumper & stock swing out tire carrier assembly for $30 myself, was great since I didnt have a bumper either.
but anyways, I say dont do it
31" tire is the max a oem tire carrier will hold. anything else is too heavy and will just rip off the bumper.
max tire size on stock tire carrier is a 31
biggest you really should go without reinforcements
i added a 4" long and 3" wide 1/4" thick metal plate behind the back of the side wall on the body so the weight is more distributed than just the small 4 bolts on the sheet metal, hopefully it wont rip out my body that way

If you do get it I would run it to Dixie 4x4 so they can strengthen your stock bumper so it will hold with that amount of weight.
