Default Stock Roof Rack?

I've got a 2000 XJ and want a full length roof rack and have one off a late '90s model, will the bolt holes line up?

now i know that there are no holes to mount up front but will the remaining rear holes line up?

I'm thinking about doing the same for my 2000 as well, one from a 98 maybe.

Did you get it done?

Never tried to add a roof rack, but on my old 88, I needed to replace some of the screws holding the rack in place. If you need to drill new holes for the rack, I would suggest getting from the dealer, the original screws and rubber nuts used to hold the rack to the roof. These rubber nuts compress when tightened to produce a water tight seal. The rubber dries out over time and will leak or split in half if reused.

Weight- I have used a car to carrier on my roof, loaded with @150# with no problems. Only have to deal with the thumping from the roof, after going over bumps.

As far as the factory bolts go silicone is always your friend.

I have a very strong oppisition towards spending my money in a jeep/dodge dealership, i've worked in ford and chevy dealerships and their really high but still not as bad.

no good guys, tryed to fit it up there and the rack was too small and the bolt holes were no where even close so i scraped that idea, guess i'll just have to break down and find a aftermarket roof rack that doesn't hurt the wallet too bad

As far as weight goes, I've had quite a bit of weight on mine and it's never made me worry... had two rolls of chain-link fence 4'x50' the other day... had 4 4x4x8 posts, 6 2x4x8 boards, three sheets of 2x8 plywood, and a ladder up there.... I wouldn't make any "camaro" turns with that weight up there, but believe me, that roof rack is a hoss

Damn.
Maybe a 98-99 might work, otherwise this might be another option.
