Hey everybody, I am having trouble finding replacements for the factory roof bars on my 2000 XJ. I have no idea what type of rail the stock system is and haven't found anything that looks like it would fit on Amazon. Are there any brands that make aftermarket cross bars that work with stock rails? I would prefer not to spend $100 on crappy used stock ones on eBay. Thanks

 

I haven't seen anything like that but I also haven't looked. I think a junkyard or an aftermarket roof rack are gonna be your best bet.

 

The stock one is not strong . if you need parts for yours I would look at pick and pull yards

If you mean just the crossbars, then no. I haven't seen anything after market that would fit the existing rails.

So your options are ebay. junk yard, or substitute. Since you have rain gutters, there a re plenty of choices that attach to the rain gutters.

What's wrong with your existing ones?

 

I ended up going with a roof basket that attaches to the existing factory rails. It's been great! The advantage to that design is you can ditch the useless factory crossbars but not have to screw around with the rain gutters.
