Default Roof rack question

Not sure if i should post this here or somewhere else.. But i just bought a roof rack, and mounted it onto the stock bars. Should I upgrade to gutter mounts and stronger bars? If so which ones are good choices? Not a clue their price ranges.. But I'd like to keep it cheaper.

I heard Thule 300 are good

stock bars are plenty strong, gutters are better but not necessary if your on a budget id just stick with the roof rail mounted set up.

and thule is against wheeling and other things we do that "destroy the planet." i think about that fact and it makes me not buy their junk

I would go with gutter mounts, that way you don't even run the risk of pulling your stock rails out of the roof. That could cause more problems...

either way is fine as long as its not any larger than a 4x5 rack filled up with firewood.
iv only made 79 of them with no complaints from customers

gutters are stronger but factory rails will work

lets begin with my PERSONAL experience...
i had a roof rack mounted to stock rails, broke the inserts between rail and crossbar
then went to gutters, i started to peel up my roof, no joke!
back to stock, but with nothing in the rack but going to add more crossbars so i will have a total of 4 dispersing the weight more evenly
just MY own EXPERIENCE

if you use the gutter mounts you need to make sure you pound and fold the end of the gutter closed that way it wont peel like azxj

Excuse me for the slow response. The stock bars seem to be holding up fine, then again I haven't put anything but the rack on them. I just bought my hi-lift jack so I plan to put that up there, also will be putting my spare tire up there tomorrow I believe. But at this point in time im going to be getting a new front and rear bumper. (ran into the problem of no tow points this weekend)

Also, I plan to place and wire four offroad lights up on the rack. Whats the neatest way to go about this? I also think eventually I will put a reverse aftermarket light on the back.

the neatest way i found is to run the wires up the A post and above the head liner. then i drilled a hole just big enough to get my 10ga wire throw and silicone it to keep water out

haha i did the exact same thing. It comes out inside the roof rack rails i guess you call em then goes to the front because i used the second hole and then only shows 1 inch and that is covered w/gromit.
