Default stock rear driveshaft needed HELP

I thought I could easily find a CHEAP rear driveshaft on here with good joints for my MT 5sp 96 xj from someone who has done a SYE kit.

My brother gave me his 2000 xj shaft it has the little boot on there and seems to short

Found a 97 shipped for $45 just not sure how many types there are and what will work for me

NON SYE 5 speed manual 10" LIFT (I think it was just a stock shaft?) Lost it in 4ft of mud so not sure what it was.

Thanks
Chris

i highly dought you can put a stock driveshaft on that much lift best bet is to measure what you need and either go to the JY or order one from a shop that makes customs ones like tom woods

There is no way your running a stock shaft on 10" lift lol
Where did you get a 10" lift?
That is a big lift... Home made?
I had to get a custom made shaft made with 6.5" lift I had to have my shaft made like 34" long 10" lift would be somewhere around 35 1/2"-37" shaft depending on how big the yokes are. Stock shafts range between 28 1/2"-31" long. My shaft with 6.5" lift was 3 1/2" to short. Your best bet is to get a fully custom made drive shaft. I watched the guy make mine and he balanced it perfect and put in some better u-joints and it's a tough shaft.

I didn't think that was possible but thats how it sounded when he first posted it. If your running that size of lift I would say a SYE kit is a MUST. I can't imagine how you could keep a stock slip yoke from falling out with that much lift.

I don't even think the drive shaft would touch the t-case and the rear yoke at the same time lol I want a 10" lift lol

Well I bought this jeep with a super lift 10in lift kit in it already, The shaft is now gone lost in the mud.

As for lenght I would have to check but I think I need like 35 1/2 I have no idea what shaft was installed after the lift but it did fit fine and worked fine untill I broke all the junk cap bolts on the rear trying to run with full locker jeeps in the mud hole.

I am just looking to flip this quick just got a custom hydro steer long arm xj. I have to much in this 96 10" lift jeep already and I'm going to take a beating on selling it, so not looking to put a $300 Woods shaft in it nor a SYE kit to be honest I'm sure the angle was not the best but for just off road use it worked fine for me and always was in the T case fine.

I really did not think it was stock just thought it may have been one from a xj with different a longer lenght b/c of T case difference or auto to 5sp
Guess my only bet is to roam the JY and look for a 35 1/2 shaft ??

I just had a thought. Get a measurement and go and check out a shaft on a old ZJ. I wonder if that was what it had. I'll have to back turbodmax up on this one, it really looked like a stock shaft. I agree that no SYE on 10" of lift is just silly, but that's the way it was when he bought it. The drive angles are awful. Putting a SYE and shaft in it would be the right thing to do, but he's just looking to get it rolling to sell it so it would be a waste of money.
Brother: We need to swap those tires onto your white XJ.Also, if you're just getting rid of the black one, I am interested in the steering. Oh, and go find my gas tank skidplate ya bastid!

Any ideas on a CHEAP DS for the big XJ?Does anyone know the length of a stock ZJ rear shaft? Poor turbodmax hasn't run the monster XJ since this spring when he lost the shaft in the mud.Now it has grass growing on it.I hope you're all happy. lol
