what gears come in a 96 4.0 country it seems so gutless also what axles does it have

I'm willing to bet that it has 3.73's in it if it has a tow package. If not, it may be 3.55's. I'm not sure though. You may have a Dana 30 up front and a Dana 35 out back, but I'm not sure.
really my v6 mustang with 2.73 had way more pull than this im suprised

Automatic 4.0l WITHOUT a tow package has 3.55 gears. a '96 has a Dana 30 in front. And a Chrysler 8.25" in the rear or it might be a Dana 35 but i doubt it.

my 96 has a dana 35 in it stock. its a 5 speed though.
OP: best way to check is to see if you can read the dif or compare the pictures, or better yet measure the axle tube diameter.

Any XJ with ABS came with a Dana 35.
