Default Stock Fog Lights

Hey fellow Jeepers,

I have an 01' XJ Sport

No fogs, holes aren't even cut for them.

I pulled the dash off and noticed that there is a connection with wires on the back of the panel where the OEM fog light switch would go.

I also notices the 2 empty relay ports under the hood in the fuze box.

My question is, are there existing wires for the lights them selves hidden behind the bumper?

I would like to put OEM fogs in so I don't have the cheap looking after market ones.

Would I have to run wires from the fuze box or are they there hidden?

What else besides a switch and relays do I need to install the OEM fogs?

Thanks in advance!

P.s. Also, Are there any existing Seat Covers made to fit the XJ seats? I'm looking for black leather and I do not want to spend the money to have them reapolstered.

Fogs: They're 60-90 bucks apiece not including the switch you would have to buy. I'm actually looking at ripping my one working fog light out and replacing both with cheapos. As bad as that sucks.

Seat Covers: Wet Okole makes the most awesomest seat covers ever. They're Neoprene, and they absolutely positively fit like a glove.

Stock fogs mount to brackets at the corners (observe other '98-'01 XJs with stock fogs). The corner trim pieces have rectangular clearances that need to be cut out to accomodate them. That box is called the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and there should be a relay socket that is populated with contacts (second one in from the fender, first one in already has a relay in it, third and fourth relay sockets have no contacts in them). The harnesses/connectors should already be there. It just takes a little rooting around near the headlamp harness to find the foglamp connections. The FSM has pretty good details on this.

All wiring harness have the equipment allowances for every option, some are just not used.

Just drill through the bumper and put in some PIAA's if you dont want em to look cheap. IMO PIAAs are the best light money can buy.

I put the OEM fog lights on my 98 Classic. Bought the lights on ebay $45.00 shipped to me for the set. Bought the switch and switch panel here for $25.00 shipped. Be patient and look around. The deals will come through. The switch plug and dashboard light circuit were there. But the relay plug and the wiring going to the lights were not. For relay, Chrysler vehicles from the late 90s to about 2004 had relays and brackets, single, 2, 3, or 4 relays per assembly. I pulled a lot of them out at the U-Pull-It yard.I used a single relay and bracket and mounted it in front of the PDC. Bought a set of male end connectors off this site for the lights. Then ran wire from the switch to the relay and from the relay to the lights. I do not have the lights wired so they automatically shut off when I switch my high beams on.
Mounting the lights I cut out the indentation on both sides. Holes are already there for the light brackets, they just bolt on.

My 99 TJ was the same way. Dash wiring and plug for the switch, no wiring for the lights.

By the way for anyone listening. The 40$ pair of lights at harbor freight are much better then the cheaper ones. I read the reviews. Wap mart and autozone have decent ones too.

Bringing this old thread back......sigh.......

the center section trim litterally pulls off. Then you can remove the switch. This can be found in search function here on the forums.
