No, I didn't really get around to that today. I did pull it off last week but never capped it off, never tried to start it either, just turned the key and let the fuel pump build up pressure to see if it would leak out of the back of the regulator, but nothing ever did.

One of my friends had a 87 Cherokee die when we were out in the bush this summer. It sounded EXACTLY the same as the video you posted. We towed it back to camp and everything checked out. Fuel came out the test port, had spark, compression, all the electrical checked out. I just happened to have a spare fuel pump in the back of my Cherokee so in a last ditch 'got nothing to loose' moment we decided we may as well switch that. Had to drop the whole tank to get the bastard out though, because some **** wrecked the twist-lock thingy that holds it in there. Anyways, I don't know if you've ever had a Cherokee fuel pickup out before, but theres a little 3" or so section of rubber line (inside the tank) connecting the fuel pump to the line that goes through the tank wall. Somehow the guy that put it on there managed to screw it up, and the line fell off. It still pumped fuel and looked good at the other end (without a pressure tester anyways) but I guess it didn't have enough pressure to keep it going.
Since you said it's been sitting for a while that might be a good thing to check, that line might have rotted through or something. And like I say, it sounded EXACTLY the same as the video you posted.
