have you tested the cps?

also when was your last tune up (plugs, wires etc)

when was the last time you freshened up your grounds

Below is the route for spark on the 4.0 Next thing for you to do is to TEST your ignition coil. They can be tested for primary/secondary resistances with a manual and a meter.
----------------------------------------------

Spark: 12 volts from ignition switch to the ASD relay; when the key is first turned on the PCM provides a ground to the ASD relay to energize it, then the ASD relay passes 12 volts to the coil primary side. If no crank sensor signal is generated after a couple of seconds the PCM cuts the ground to the ASD relay (and fuel pump relay too) and that cuts power to the coil (and fuel pump). Key to START and once again the PCM energizes the ASD relay. Now, a critical element is the crank sensor--no signal from the crank sensor and the PCM won't trigger the coil to provide spark.

CPS do you mean Crank Position Sensor or Cam Position Sensor? Have you checked the coils? Checked Grounds?

Missed a step.... No signal from Cam Pos sensor and the Crank sensor won't get signal to sense.

Ok do you have a test light? If not go get one. Disconnect coil connector, one side should have momentary power 2 sec or less as key is turned on. Next move the test lights cord to power, and check the other pin of the connector while someone cranks the engine, the test light should flash. Let us know.

test light check, see pictures, bottom pin (green wire thingy) to ground with tester, we get momentary power when turning key to on.

changing lead to power, tester on other pin, cranking engine, nothing happens. tried the same with lead on ground, still nothing. grrrrrr.

whats next?

Did you reset the computer? Try disconnecting the battery and touching the positive and negative leads together to drain all power from the system. Then make sure that all battery connections are super clean. You may also want to check the run/start/ignition fuse in the front passenger side kick-panel fuse box. When I had this problem, the fuse blew out but still looked good. Swap it for another and see if that helps. Recheck the fuses under the hood for the ignition as well.

Ok this means the computer is not even trying to ground the coil, now do the same with an injector connector, amke sure it has momentary power with the test light on the ground post, then swap just like for the coil. If you have something there, you may be looking at a wiring or ECM problem, if you have nothing there also it is probably something to do with CPS or CKP sensors/ wiring.
