Still no damn start
Hey guys, I had an issue where my distributor tre 4 teeth off, yadda yadda yadda. Put a new Dist in, timings PERFECT. Not 180 out, nothin, I have strong spark, but no start. Compressions fine, leakdown test passed on all cylinders.
I pulled and tested the ASD and fuel pump relays, both passed. All under hood fuses are good too. Only problem, I don't hold residual pressure in my fuel rail. I get pressure on crank, and key on, but when i turn the key off, I have no pressure. Noid lights gave a thumbs up to the fuel injectors.
I'm at Wyotech in Laramie, WY, and my instructors are baffled at what could be the problem. Anyone have ANY ideas??
Thanks much!

Just and idea but mine Used to just turn but no start and I had my brother turn it wile I unplugged my crank positioning sensor and she started rite up! So give that a go cuz your sensor may be bad
I agree, crank positioning sensor. If it is bad it will not start at all. If you unplug it, it will not make any difference though. You will need to replace it to be sure. $35.00 at the local auto parts.

I would try the crankshaft sensor. I work with a guy who has had a few xjs and had that problem. Give it a shot. Its a lot less work and it wouldn't hurt anything.

you dont need to pull valve cover to tell compression stroke just remove # 1 plug have some one turn motor with socket on crank shaft nut while your finger is sealing the hole when you hear air coming out around you finger turn tell pistion is at all the way to top
IMO - The most likely scenario is one of two things; either the firing order (wire placement) was muffed during re-installation or the distributor was installed 180 out and ignition is firing on exhaust stroke. Retrace your steps...
One more thing. If you have access to a FSM or another reliable reference then review the Fuel Pressure Leak Down Test procedure...
You may also want to pull a plug-or-two to see if they're wet.
