ok well some of you have been reading my threads and helping me quite a bit but i have one more question. my t-case doesnt have the houseing that goes over the rear shaft. it just has a rubber boot. why is that? is it a different type of 231 or what? my model number that it says on my t-case is npg 231 j. can anyone help me?

 

Take a picture. without the tail shaft there would be nothing to connect the Driveshaft to.

 

The older 231's had a longer (2 piece) tailcone that enclosed the slip yolk. Tey were prone to leakage so the newer style (yours) replaced it.

 

oh ok lol i was kinda worried for a minute cuz ive been looking around a lot at write ups and stuff and all the pics ive seen didnt have the thing thats on mine.
