Default Steering wheel does not lock

I work alone 95% of the time on my vehicles. I was trying to do an alignment and realized my steering does not lock. Without the key in the ignition I can turn the wheels lock to lock. Can the column lock be replaced/ repaired? Is there a write up? I searched but came up empty.

its not going to stop a thief, so why bother its just a waste of money you could buy one of those club things that lock on youre wheel probably as cheaply. however a hacksaw and 3 minutes are all that is needed to defeat them, if you are thinking about the security factor a hidden switch that disables the fuelpump would be youre best bet. just my 2 c

No, I couldn't care less about the security. I just need the wheel to lock so I can adjust the tie rod without having someone sit in it and hold the wheel. It would probably be more work that what it's worth but if were a cheap and simple fix I'd do it just because I have a slight case of OCD.

Just use a ratchet strap to lock your wheel straight

If that's your only concern. Tie a piece of rope to the steering wheel Make sure that it is long enough to mass it out the door and just pull it as tight as you can and close the door on it. Or you can also tie it off to something outside of the Jeep. Hope this help or at least gives you an idea on how to stabilize the steering wheel.

I don't know why I didn't think of that. I used a long pry bar but couldn't get it to wedge and keep the wheel straight.

Sometimes the simple solution just never comes and when someone points it out... Well I feel like a big ole dummy.

It happens to all of us.
The only reason I thought of it is when I need to stabilize my steering wheel on my 65 Chevy pick up that what I have to do since they didn't have a locking steering wheel on them.
Hope it works for you.
