Default steering probs

Ok riddle me this. I jsut put on my RK long arms recently, took a trip to Hot Springs for some memorial weekend wheeling the xj isnt turning right. I can turn right with no problems, but when I turn left, it's like it doent want to turn all the way. Also my right control arm has rub marks from the right tire, but no marks on the left.

What could be the problem. I have RK 3link long arms with Currie Steering.
Im at work right now, but in the morn ill see If i can get a pic of the front end. Im pretty much fed up with it. Ive also got a wiring mess to deal with.

sounds to me like you need to adjust your trackbar.

what it sounds like is its adjusted too far in (making the axle more towards the driver side) which in turn allows your steering to steer to the right fine because the linkage doesnt have to move as far for full lock. but full lock to the left is more difficult to obtain because the knuckle is just a wee bit too far out there, just enough to cause problems.

so get that trackbar adjusted accordingly

Or behind door number three..........the pitman arm was not placed back on the steering box when the box was in the center of it's travel.

911 let us know which of these possibilities are the one you have, or another if there is another. These are all the things that I can think of that would cause the symptoms you described.

I had the exact same problem after a wheeling trip, full turn (even more than) in one direction, and very little in the other. Turns out my track bar had started to fold over itself (Rusty's apparently thought a Z-bend in a trackbar was a good thing).

Like everyone else said, check your trackbar, especially since you've just done suspension work.

Definitely sounds like either an out-of-adjustment or bent trackbar.

Im also throwing my vote in for the tracbar, it sounds like a classic case. Try asjusting it as it will be your easiest and least expensive option.
