Default Steering Issue

This past weekend my cherokee started having play in the steering. It also included a click when turning. I had my wife turn the steering back and forth and found that the play is in the 'u joint' that is just outside the firewall. In the included picture, when turning a little parts 1 and 2 will turn and 3 will not. Then as the steering wheel is turned more, there is a click, and then part 3 will turn. My cherokee is a 1994 4wd, 4.0 with automatic. Is this something that needs to be adjusted or just replaces?

Ive never done 1 on a jeep, but I had a Dakota that did this and I had to replace the steering shaft cuz the u-joints are not serviable. You steering shaft looks like the twin to my truck. I would say replace the shaft. Its not too hard really.

Should be pretty cheep at your local JY. You might have to pull the steering box to get it, so bring a friend.

make sure your trac bar is tightened at both ends. i had the same issue and thought the same thing and it was just the trac bar bolt that was a little loose

So I went ahead and ordered this:

http://www.quadratec.com/products/56113_04.htm

Do I need to remove the steering box like havensov said or is there another way. I have the bolts removed at both ends, and it slides back and forth but I can't get it to move enough to come off at either end.
