How do you get it off. It is a 1993 Cherokee sport. I am changing the ignition switch.

you do not have to take anything off the colum. actually I dont think it will even come off. The steering wheel has to come off and then the lock ring behind the wheel. then a few screws. Then you will be able to remove/install the iqnition switch. you have to have the key in order to do so.

 

thanks, i do have the key. everything works when i turn the key except the starter, which is brand new. it doesn't even click. i think the switch is messed up. thanks for the advice. how can i depress the lock ring to get it off except having a special tool?
