I have just bought a 96 Cherokee 2.5 TD.{2 weeks ago}
Not long after i had it it started to make a grinding/tinny noise which i think was coming from the a/c unit,anyway it stopped and everything looked ok but when i was on a long journey i heard this almighty metal to metal noise,i stopped as soon as possible but the bracket had snapped of the a/c unit and jammed thus stopping the engine turning,i have since removed the offending bracket but what i want to know is,is there a compressor or some sort of pump which controls the steering attached to this unit cos after i started it up and tried to go for a drive i could hardly steer the beast,i have tried to source a manual but living in the south of spain im finding this a tad difficult also i would not be the best mechanic in the world so any advice would be appriciated.
