stearing box leaking

Default stearing box leaking

Brought to get checked to make sure . I need a new seal guy said its about a 2 hr job. I know someone that can help . Is it a pain in the *** to do myself? Guy said I should be fine as long as I keep filling power steering fluid for now

Put a few ounces of brake fluid in the power steering, it will swell the seals and stop the leak. I've done it and it works as long as the fluid is not pouring out of the seals.

Wouldn't it be quicker to replace the whole box? That way its fixed for a long time.

Especially if it is the original box. They do wear out.

How much is a new steering box, just off hand? I'm pretty sure my seal is out as well. Sorry to hijack the thread

That's why im asking on here. I know the seal is 50. Idk how much it is to replace the box. Or how hard it is to do

I got mind from NAPA for 120 bucks. Plus they never gimmie a problem about warranty.

For the price of a new one its a lot easier than trying to "patch" an old one.

If you are going to replace you might as well upgrade to the 1999 Durango V8 No Snow Plow Steering Box that is a direct swap.
