Default startup issue

Hey folks, i have a 97 with the 4.0. Recently my jeep has decided not to start, no crank, solenoid click at all. replaced the battery terminal leads and did a positive terminal to solenoid switch bypass with my jumpers which resulted in the starter cranking. if im right that means my solenoid/starter is ok. however it still won't start up/crank at all when using the key in the ignition...any help?
thanks guys
