Starting woes
that is a very commmon issue with cherokees. mine has been doing it for over the last 100k miles. it is my understanding that the fuel pump assembly includes a check valve. if the pump got replaced you should not be having that issue. with that being said, if it's your only issue...cycle the key before you start it up - problem solved. i have employed that method for 5 years.
Figured I should give a follow up. New shop honored warranty, said that part of the fuel pump the first shop installed was floating around in the tank. New pump and it's running better than it has in a while. Only a half dozen or so more problems to fix and she'll basically be like new
