Starting, or rather, not.

After searching, i can not seem to find a clear answer... my 90 4.0 stopped starting today, and i was able to jump the starter solenoid directly to the battery to get it running to get me home. my question- is the common opinion that it is the starter solenoid or the NSS? wiggling the shifter did not get it started, and my reverse lights still work... help from the wise please!

Jumper the start relay next to rule out the solenoid.

maybe ignition switch is going bad my 94 did the same thing hamd power to all circuyts just not to selinoid on starter it had melted the terminal in the switch
