Hi everyone.

First post on here. Got a question about my 96 Jeep Cherokee (sport).
Lately I've had many problems (none that need to be listed but all under it) but the biggest problem for me that I can't seem to diagnose is a starting problem.

Basically, when I try to turn the key over it will click for anywhere from 1-8+ times before it will finally turn over. I got my battery tested (14) and all my Cables from the batter to the alternator, starter, ground cables all replaced with 4 gauge. For the first few times I started her back up she fired up. Then it went right back to this problem. Before I got all my cables and terminals replaced I used to have to do the old Cocacola trick to get her back up. Is my starter going bad? I know it's not the alternator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I'm at a complete loss and I want to refrain from spending the money on a new starter (I'm a cheapo).

 

if it clicks its usually the battery or starter. but test your alternator out. if you have a volt meter or a alternator tester use that. or do the screw driver test.
