starting problem
so i just traded my car for this 1992 jeep Cherokee 4.0 HO inline 6 and i have a few questions.
in the mornings it takes forever to start and when i first turn the key i dont hear the fuel pump kick in and after about an hour it finally will kick on. so i changed the fuel filter and fuel pump but after i change the fuel pump my gas gauge when from half a tank to empty and i still dont here it kick on. and im running out of ideas

Check the fuel regualtor, hook a pressure gauge up to the fuel rail and see what it is at startup. Just because you got a new fuel pump doesn't mean its not faulty, seen it happen several times before.

If you're not hearing your fuel pump check your wiring harness to the pump to ensure it's in good condition. If that doesn't work, return the pump and have it replaced for a new one. If this doesn't fix it, before you start the jeep the next time, put a thing of sea foam in the gas tank with a new tank of gas to clean and clogs in your lines and injectors. I know with my jeep, I can't hear the fuel pump turn on unless I'm at the back tires listening for it.

Your wiring inside the tank going to your fuel pump and fuel guage sender is jacked up in some way. Either the wires are swapped or the ground inside there is bad.

if the handle broke off like mine did, just disassemble the handle and use pliers to pull the cable. make sure u grab it real tight the first time u try it cuz if the pliers break the cable ur F'd
then hit up a JY for a cable, they only take a few minutes to replace. goodluck

what about a fuel pump not even coming on? would a ground wire be the culprit? mine starts, notta prob, revs to 3000rpm then starts fighting the putters out. fires up without fail just doesnt stay running, even hit the gas pedal to see if it helped and nothing just killed it faster.
