Starting issue. HELP!!
I tried to start the xj two nights ago and it had a very slow crank. Then didnt crank at all. So I thought battery. Well I put my battery charger on it over night and it still wont start. I hear what I belive is the fuel pump running and stater clicking when I try to start it but nothing. The Battery is less than a month old. Any ideas?

A funny thing!
It's funny that I had the same problem three days ago, however I had no cranking and no start. I started checking the basics from the battery on. everything was within specs. to the distributor and still no spark. I started to move ground wires around and the truck started. I ran another bat. neg. cable to engine block and a lot of minor issues cleaned themselves up! No more long four second cranking time before start up. My slow power windows are back to normal, same with the power locks. I agree, check your grounds and clean up connections. It will not hurt to run another ground from bat. to engine block either.

So my grounds are ok, battery has full charge and it has not spark. I took it out the day before this happened. Have no clue where to go from here. I checked spark by looking at the end of the coil wire when it was attemting to start. But it wont even crank

Should I be worried that my oil pressure gauge is pinned as high as it will go too? Not when it was running just now that it wont start.
