Starter Problem??

Starter Problem??
Long time reader first time poster here. Did some searching and couldnt find my problem here so maybe you guys could help.
I've got a 98 Cherokee I6. It ran last night just fine and this morning I went to start it up and at first it squealed and gave a strange exhaust kinda rattle and it didnt even start to crank the engine.
Now every time ive tried to start it I just get the loud squeal I think from the starter. The engine is not cranking at all. Battery is fine.
Is this the starter going out or what?
