starter problem?
ok so lately my 88 xj with the renix 4.0 has been taking a little longer to start, it seems like the starter is really tired, today i started it drove for about 10minutes , and parked it and went to the store, when i came back i tried to started but it wouldn't crank, i could hear the fuel pump prime, but as i keep turning the key nothing happens , after a few tries i called my dad to ask him to scoop me up, and then figured i'd give it a last go it started up right before i decided to get out of it. (it took some time to start up)
is it my starter?
thanks!

Does the starter sound healthy? Or does it take a long time and sound likes its real groggy? Also, check the battery cables/connections.

I would clean all of the battery connections before doing anything else. Also check and clean the connections at the starter and solenoid. Next time you try to start it and the starter won't turn over take a hammer and hit the starter a couple solid times. If it start after that the starter is going bad.
