Hey guys, my wife's 96 Cherokee SE has been having some issues with the starter kicking on after the vehicle has been running, it will only do this if its running in park or neutral, it doesn't do it all the time but at least once every other day that I know of. Should I be replacing the starter, ignition switch or the ignition itself. I am very lost of what is causing this and no one seems to know either. Thank you all in advance.

 

I had a problem with the starter staying engaged after starting. I lubricated the key cylinder with graphite. That didn't fix it. I then lubricated the outside part of the key housing with PB Blaster. Haven't had a problem since. There was some sticking going on in the linkage in the column.
