Hi there,

I have just bought a secondhand roof box with fittings and was wondering will this be ok just mounted onto the standard roof rails/bars?

There won't be much weight in the box - tent will be in the vehicle. But I am concerned the drag when driving might pull the bars.

Advice please before I fix it

Should be fine. I have a 31 on my basket on factory rails.

 

I don't see it being an issue. I've been looking into roof racks for awhile now and it seems a good 75% of them mount to the standard bars on the XJs and I haven't heard of any issues doing this.

 

My custom rack weighs a bit but it's held on by u bolts to the rails. No problems so far.
