My 98 4.0 Cherokee (little) has developed a stumbling issue. This usually occurs more when the truck has been sitting for a couple of hours (as opposed to sitting all night). If I'm accelerating slowly, at about half throttle and at low rpm's, the Jeep stumbles and sounds if though it is backfiring through the intake. I'm guessing this because the backfiring doesn't seem to be coming out of the tailpipe. If I give it more gas, the truck takes off and the stumbling goes away. I replaced a leaky intake/exhaust manifold gasket and then replaced the O2 sensors because of an engine code. The stumbling actually seemed to get worse after the code was reset by a diagnostic tool.
I'm going to check the fuel pressure, plug and plug wires. Does anyone have the fuel pressure specs and plug wire resistance specs?
Thanks.
