When I turn on the A/C past 2 the belt squeals when I hit the throttle. Do I just need to tighten my belt up?
Thanks!

im want to know whats goin on with that to cus im havin that same problem . if i turn on the a/c when im already moving about 40 or so it doesnt squeal but if i stop and accelerate again it will squeal. its not the belt cus i replaced mine and tightened it up right and it still does it. i dont know what the problem is. my uncle seems to think its the bearing going in the a/c compressor and my buddy seems to think its the fan motor or whatever it is that turns the fan. but who knows

YES! I'm having the same exact problem!!! What is the deal? I put a new belt on when my water pump went out. Everything is good and tight. I just roll with the windows down for now...

Go to NAPA, get a Krikit II belt tension gauge. If you put 5 guys in a garage with a Jeep, you'll get 6 different opinions on what's "tight enough". A used belt should have between 140-160 lbs of tension. Too loose, and the belt will slip. Too tight and you can wreck your PS or water pumps.
If your belt is really good, and the tension is correct, pull the belt, and spin everything by hand to see if there are any pulleys dragging. The compressor clutch is an obvious culprit, but I'd check the simple things first.
And when you replace the belt, I recommend the Goodyear Gatorback over the parts store brands.

So its either the compressor or the bearings somewhere on one of the pulleys? Me and my friend checked my belt. Its tight. But when I have the A/C running above 2 its squealing on the farthest right pulley. The one above the tightening pulley. I'm going to put some 3 in 1 lube on it and see what happens tomorrow. But god that squeal is annoying, especially when its 94 degrees outside with 80% humidity...

Mine started doing this same thing towards end of last summer so I removed the ac comp. clutch relay it hasnt made any noise since then. It's getting hot here again so today I put the relay back in ac works good but I am a little worrierd it could cause my ac comp. to lock up.

Yeah, exactly from what you said. From the right side when your looking at the engine. That has nothing to do with the A/C. So whats the problem? Bearings?
i have a similar question. when i put the ac/defrost on the belt squeels. today when driving home from work, i got a faint buring rubber smell. when i got home the pulley from the ac comp was smoking. how much of a pita is that to square away???
when i run the engine w/o the ac or defrost on its fine. when i run it with it on the pulley for the comp seems to be slipping. it spins intermitanttently.
idler pulley or bearings???
