Default Squeaking belt issue

So I've replaced the idler pulley and power steering pulley and yet my Jeep still squeaks. So I replaced the belt and it is still squeaking. But every time I spray wd40 directly on the belt it stops squeaking for a short period of time then the squeaking starts right back up. I'm lost on how to fix it now. What other things should I try or replace

Do not spray your belt.
You either have another pulley going (water pump,ac) or your belt is not adjusted properly.
Tighten your belt until you can not twist it past 90*. It will probably take care of the issue.
If not get a mechanics stethoscope and listen to all pulleys to determine the source of the squeak prior to replacing any parts. Stay clear of all moving parts. Let us know.

I noticed with my '96 you could just throw on the belt, tightened to where you thought was good, and it would not squeak. My '00 on the other hand not so much. Kept making minor adjustments till I got it just so and would not squeak. What year you dealing with?

On my 98 I had to tighten the hell out of it to get it to stop squeaking after replacement.

Have you used this product? What tension did you set your belt at?

I'm pretty guilty of using the calibrated thumb......

It's good for any kind of belt. You will be surprised at how tight you have to get it before it's actually tightened to spec. That's why the twist test doesn't actually work. That's just a guess.

There's an acceptable range:

New belt: 180 - 200 lb ft

Used: 140 - 160 lb ft

Obviously new belts stretch quite a bit.

Also, just about the best belt you can get is a Goodyear Gatorback. The surface is different on these belts, so that they resist slipping even when they're not tightened all the way. They're a bit more expensive, but I'll never put anything else on mine.

Take the belt off and spin all the pulleys .... check for side to side play and any roughness in rotation.

Sometimes over tightening can temporarily quite a belt caused by a bad bearing in a pulley until ........ really bad things happen.

I saw a squeaking belt go quiet when hit with a little water ..... it was a bearing going bad.
