It is definently a good idea for corrosion purposes especially you do alot of water. However I would definently recommend putting the carpet and padding back in just piece it up so that when it gets wet it will be a simple removal for drying purposes.

I wouldn't glue it down....unless you plan on never taking it off-road/in water. If you are going to take the carpet out, bedline, then put the carpet back....I would leave it laying loose on top. Carpet dries much quicker and much less smelly when you can pull it out and hang it up, as opposed to leaving it in your rig.

Plus with the bedliner underneath, it will act as a sort of anti-slip.....so your carpet won't slide around even without it being glued down.

 

Anyone have pics? I think i am going to put a gallon on my floor. I want to rip all the carpet out perminately. This sounds like a great idea! My carpet is all stained and nasty. I want to buy some floor mats and come winter i will take them out. You can just use an air hose to clean it out!

x2 this is the way to go. i just sprayed mine as well and used your idea. heat isnt bad at all and noise is just the same as stock. it easily slips out before you hit the trail and is easily put back in. by far this is the best idea in my opinion

ok, so DON"T put the bedliner on the carpet. BAD IDEA. I think everyone has made that clear, but no one has really told you why. if you paint a flexible surface, the paint will crack...A LOT. then you are going to have a very bad looking floor, plus little black pieces floating around from where it cracks apart. And i assume you are doing this for waterproofing so the cracked bedliner will leak water anyway, and then you have water sitting underneath the bedliner soaked into the carpet and rusting everything out way faster than if you did nothing at all.

As far as the dynomat thing goes. Not a bad idea, BUT, you won't be able to put it underneath the car to get rid of the heat and noise because it is nothing more than foam rubber with an adhesive backing. it would not stand up to the heat and weather under there. you cant put it underneath your feet ether. dynomat is about an inch thick, and unless you want an inch of foam rubber under your feet thats a bad idea. You can't spray the bedliner ontop of the dynomat for the same reasons you can't spray it on the carpet. if you want to put a few small pieces on the high spots that would work. if i were doing it i would place a few strips on the tranny tunnel under where the console would be as well as the kick panels and around the back of the firewall. make sure you don't interfere with the pedals though. Don't know how much experience you have with dynomat, but you'd be suprised how much a strip on the tranny tunnel would quiet the whole cab.

Personally i like the idea of spraying the floor the way you were talking about and using the carpet as molded floor mats. cut the carpet to fit just the floorboard where your feet go. don't worry about the parts that would normally go underneath the seats and console. they wont be waterproof, but all of the solids will come right out with the carpet and you can dump it out easily.

 

dyna mat isnt an inch thick. its mabey 1/8". at least for the stuff i used on a friends hummer. it is like aluminum foil with tar on the back. oh well the **** works lol. it stopped all vibrations as his hummer is an audio compitetion car. also i put it in our corvette. mades the ride amazingly quiet. and if you have your soul set on dyna mat. why not put the adhesive side of it to the underside of your carpet. it might slide all around though. just a thought that poped in my head

 

b/c it would take sooooo much of the liner to completely fill in the carpet to look decent and once its to that point that would be about 2 inches of space filler, carpet and bed liner which is not good

my buddy and i used to wheel through some creeks in his 'yota and after awhile his carpet got moldy and would give you a headache after a minute of bein in there, so we yanked em out and rhinolined the floor then put the seats back in... looks good, works good

 

This is what I used and I don't have a problem with the heat or sound. POR-15, Henry 208-R (Rubberized roofing asphalt) used for heat and sound deadening, truck bed liner, 1 gallon each $80, $20, $50 I also used quick fix flashing $20 at HD it reflects heat works great window flashing does the same... rolls on and then cover with bed liner. No heat no noise and no rust..... If want to keep your carpet which is the root of all evil here pull it out in one piece and remove the insulation and wool/cotton material only leaving the rubber and the top carpet. I strongly suggest getting rid of the carpet it will only give you trouble down the road.. Good luck One tip buy bolts screws before hand especially seat bolts and nuts... they like to rust and snap off..

lol yeah i was trying to take the front seats out to clean my carpet the other day and for the life of me i couldnt get one of the bolts off. probably gonna hit it with some pb and if that dont work ill break it
