hi guy i just finished mounting my spot lights and i was about to start wiring can i use a single 30amp relap for all four 55w lamps or do i have to do it with two thanks for your wisdom
Yes you can. Just put the fuse before any of the lights, on the wire coming from the positive terminal of the battery.
P=VI, Power is in Watts. So 55*4= 220. 220=12I, where I is current. The current going through should be about 18.33 in the ideal world. I'd add about 5 for resistance, so go with a 25 amp fuse. You could even get away with a 20, because the battery runs slightly higher than 12. To get an exactly accurate number, use a multi-meter to take the voltage at the ends of the wires, where you are going to attach the lights, and just use that. 25 would be fine though.
