Default Spinning Injector

Would/should a spinning injector cause rough idle problems?

I can freely turn/rotate my #2 injector left and right or back-n-forth while the rest are snug and will not rotate.

Its on a 2000 4.0

thanks in advance...........

If it's sucking air past the O-ring at the intake manifold it might be causing misfire (lean). Re O-ring all the injectors. Felpro sells them You'll need two kits. Most automotive parts stores sells them.

Buy these too. They are cheap enough.

Need 1 box. Used these when I did my 4 hole injector upgrade.

they're the clips that hold the injectors to the fuel rail.

Ditto. Yeah I could have easily reused mine when I did the upgrade to 4 hole injectors. For $3 it just did not make sense to.

Thanks for posting that-I thought the clips were only available through dealers. I've been nursing mine for a few years.

If you can freely turn them, do it while the engine is running and see if you hear/smell anything. If you want to diagnose whether the rough idle is from an injector, you can just disconnect each injector power connector one at a time and see if the idle stays the same or gets worse. If you pull #1 and the idle is worse, #1 is usually ok, proceed in order. How old are your spark plugs? I usually work on ignition issues before fuel first.

Noticing the years of your Jeeps. I would check first to make sure they fit. The Buyer's Guide at the Napa site lists the vehicles they fit. See below. Cherokees are not even listed. I used these on an '00 4.0 XJ. I know they are the right ones because I looked them up. I work there. They worked. Would not be the first time a listing was wrong. But I would still check since your XJ's from the '80's.

Quite normal, you are chasing your tail. Of course, couldn't hurt to change the O rings. If they were leaking in the cylinder, you would be having hard starting and clouds of black smoke. If they were leaking top side, you would have puddles of gas on the block.
