XJ's dont have spindles or a-arms. Can you post a pic of what your working on?

Are you trying to replace control arm bushings, balljoints, or something?

Pardon my ignorance. To put it in lamans terms. The part that the front wheel hub mounts to. The pivot point that turns when you turn the wheel. There are two mount bolts with cotter keys on them. What that holds on is what I need to get off

if your talking about separating the spindel from the ball joints You have to loosen the 2 nuts and strike the spindle with a heavy hammer to get it to separate. Right on the side where the nuts are is where you strike it.

Thats your knuckle assembly. The studs that go through it with nuts and cotter pins are your ball-joints.

Is that what your trying to get off and replace? You'll need a ball-joint press, AutoZone and the like rent them out.

The outter knuckle itself you smack off, the balljoints themselves are pressed in. If your somehow lucky enough to beat them out how do you plan to install the new ones without damage?

Ok. I need to replace the bushings that are right there. Do I need to remove the ball joint or just the knuckle?

Big Hammer and Strike were I'm pointing and it should come off. Ball joints you NEED a press for. X2 AZ will rent one to you.
