Speedometer Intermittent

I have a 93 XJ 4.0 with an intermittent speedometer. Most of the time it does not register. R2 the sensor yesterday, no help. Advice?

Have you pulled the sensor out and confirmed that the gear isn't mangled? Wiring to the sensor look okay?

Cleaned contacts behind cluster. Works now.

Did you just say you R2 the sensor?
I haven't heard "R2" used since my Air Force days......
R squared, remove and replace (with a new part), remove and re-install (with the old part).....
