Plug the VSS back into the sensor. It's on the tail housing of the transfercase.

Almost same issue with no sye. I'm lifted 2" so no sye needed YET. My speedo works up to 45mph then It goes crazy and jumps around. What could it be?

My speedo works correctly on occasion. Usually it goes backwards. Some times it doesn't work at all. For some reason smacking the dash will some times correct it usually not though. Also large Bumps (train tracks etc...) will cause it to work out stop working. I've tried different clusters and they all do the same thing. Maybe this VSS is my gremlin I haven't been able to find.

Take it back to the mechanic who installed the SYE and have him remove the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) assembly and see if the gear on it is intact. And, see if the new SYE main shaft even has drive splines for the VSS macined into it.

Of course, the electrical connector to the VSS has to be hooked up.

Edit: If the SYE kit had a pulse type VSS it won't have a VSS with a gear nor will it have helical splines on the main shaft.

Make sure you have the correct gear, that the mechanic actually installed the corresponding gear on the shaft, and that the VSS is clocked correctly by lining up the numbers (tooth count) with the index mark on the tailcone.
