Default Speed specific wheel shimmy

Front wheels and steering wheel shimmies [shakes from side to side] at exactly 50-65 mph, fine at any other speed, are the tires out of balance?

The tires are new and of course got balanced when put on, and are only 30's.

PS, it started when the 2 in. spacer was installed up front, new tires were put on right before lift was installed, no shimmy before lift was installed.

You may need to drop your transfer case. Mine did the exact same thing at almost the exact same speed when I put 2" pucks up front. 1" case drop solved the problem

You shouldnt need an extended trac bar for a 2" lift, but check your bushing it might be shot, could be your damper as well.

Is this going into death wobble territory. There are a few really good writeups on the topic on the forum. If your steering components are worn, adding a lift magnifies the problem and can create all sorts of issues.

Aulthough I feel like I hear more about that when people start going over 3"

When mine was stock it had a shake/shimmy at the same speed. The axle end bushing on the trac-bar was shot. Replaced when I did the lift and all is well.

I am experiencing the same thing with 5.5" of lift. sway bar connected or disconnected.
all new dampner, track bar, drag link, track bar, and pitman arm.
I have tried my transfer case lowered and normal with no change. I do have an SYE and my driveshafts are balanced and in line. new wheel hubs and u-joints.

I havent checked the wheels for balancing maybe lost a weight? maybe axle wear or double check the measurements on my adjustable control arms. maybe ball joints?

i hope this helps

had the same problem after i put my 3 inch lift in, couldnt figure out what it was and then i had a very trusting mechanic look at it and he said my steering stabilizer shock (dampener) and that is what it was mine only happened between the speeds of 50-60 if i ran 61 i was fine. and you dont need to drop the t case at all until you go over 4 inches!

Unless you have a press, or like swearing at you jeep, get the two piece poly track bar bushing. Simpler to put in.
